Please find this product at http://absupply.net/searchfast.aspx?videoid=gm1JzlLTBGA This video is to bring you a closer look at the National Guard 101V. This is a very typical door sweep that I’ve sold a lot of for a couple of reasons, I’ve sold a lot of this brand, I’ll go over that in a moment. So the 101 is representative of this profile which is an aluminum extrusion and a large thick piece of seal material, and in this instance it’s vinyl. So the 101V means that it is a mill aluminum door sweep with an integrated drip cap. The V means that the seal material is vinyl. What I like about this material is the vinyl is thick, so that’s good. Vinyl, while it is a builder’s quality sort of item, not the hot and highest performing material, it’s thicker and therefore I think will do a better job with a serviceable life. Also, when you get this material installed, that vinyl has a very small, almost imperceptible, greater distance from here than to the face here, meaning that when you install this to the door and you push those screws through the holes and it holds the holder onto the face of the door, the extrusion, it’s gonna compress that vinyl ever so slightly to help any water that gets behind here from intruding. And obviously that’s the design of what you’re trying to prevent against, if you’ve got a drip cap, it’s an outside door, and you’re expecting rain, that’s for sure; or water, the fact of the matter is you might have a situation where you have, speaking from personal experience, you might have family members who go outside and water the lawn and the flowers and bushes and whatnot, water the door to, why not? So anyway, I’ve got this material, not this exact one but, the concept of a drip cap even in instances where you might have some protection overhead. Before we go over the dimensions, this is available in the dark bronze finish, along with the clear anodized finish. This is mill, this is what the material would look like when it comes from exactly that, the mill. Dimensionally, let’s go over that next, you can see that this has an overall height of 2″ for that drawing, and that’s broken down into the 1-1/2″ for the holder, which you can somewhat eyeball there, and then 1/2″ from the bottom of the holder, pardon me, drip cap, 1-1/2″ worth here, then 1/2″ here. Projection, which is not listed on here, it’s a bit less important but I like to identify it so you know what you’re dealing with, it’s 3/4″ which is typical for National Guard material, 3/4″ projection is a hallmark that I have found in drip cap items from them. Screws are included in a complimentary finish. Just gonna be your typical number 8, 6 x 3/4″, these look a little bit longer, just typical sheet metal screws. Speaking of screws, the screw holes are slotted as you can see, and that is really handy to have from the factory because it allows you that ever so slight amount of lateral or horizontal adjustment to contour it exactly against what your sill might be doing, or the door may not be plumb what that might be doing, in a relationship to a sill. Also, it helps compensate for any sort of mis-drilled hole that you might be contending with, you know, when you’re drilling through steel, aluminum, fiberglass, wood, the drill bit has the tendency to walk a little bit if you’ve not used a center punch, and those slotted holes are nice to have from the factory because it’s tough to drill a slotted hole, and will allow you to compensate for that mis-drilled hole a little bit. But if you have need for a custom length, by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicating in the comment field what length you’d like us to cut the material back to. The reasoning is if you had to cut this to length, you’ll be stuck drilling a slotted hole, but what I was going to say was, if you order a custom length we’ll not only locate that slotted hole at the proper distance from the edge but the proper center to center as well. So that’s a nice feature that National Guard will certainly do. Real nice sweep. They are a comprehensive manufacturer of all things weather stripping related, not only typical door sweeps like this, but thresholds, perimeter gasketing, material made of aluminum like this, different insert materials, material made of architectural bronze, material made of solid stainless steel, and they are also a comprehensive manufacturer of metal vision frames that you would use in steel and wood doors.
