This video is to bring you a closer look at the Dorbin 33BE Mill Extruded Brass Hook Strip.
This is quite heavy, you can see the wall thickness of the material is quite substantial.
It weighs a 1/3 of a pound per foot.
This is an L-shaped hook strip.
This is intended to be installed at the face of the door on the pull side and is to come in contact with the lip of the threshold.
This is solid architectural bronze (brass).
It is in a mill finish (unfinished brass), you can also get this in satin brass, polished brass and oil rubbed bronze.
Available on the website in several different lengths.
If you have need for a custom length by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicating in the comment field what size you’d like for us to cut the item back to.
The reasoning is if you had to take this 3ft piece and cut it back to 34″, you’d eliminate that slotted hole and the next one is farther down on the item.
It is difficult to drill a slotted hole.
The slotted hole is nice to have because it will allow you to taylor the installation of the hook strip to account for a sill that may be out of level or a door that is not hung plum.
Solid brass screws are included (#6 x 1″ pan head screw).
The slotted hole is nice because when you are drilling through the door the drill bit has a tendency to walk if you have not used a center punch.
If you order a custom length we will locate the hole from the proper dimension from the edge and the the proper center to center as well.
Dimensionally, this is 1″ tall, the short leg is 3/8″, this material thickness is 3/32″.
Since this exposed, you might want to consider a satin, polished, or oil rubbed finish because this will age over time, while the others will be more stable since there is a finish to it.
