This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko 2221DPK Dark Bronze Anodized Aluminum Door Shoe with Rain Drip – Pemko Prene insert.
The 2221 represents that this is a door bottom with an integrated drip cap.
The ‘D’ stands for dark bronze.
The ‘PK’ stands for the Pemko Prene seal insert (very high performing material when compared to vinyl).
The seal would come in black if you ordered a dark bronze door shoe.
There is an image below this video that shows everything important dimensionally about the item.
This is for an 1-3/4″ thick door.
The dimension of the inside face is 1″ (closer to 1-1/8″).
The outside face is 1-3/8″.
The projection of the drip cap is about 7/16″.
The dimension from the inside of the aluminum extrusion to the bottom of the seal is 1/4″.
Because this is an unusual design this would not sit flush to the bottom of a door, it is not intended for that sort of application.
This door shoe is intended for a door with an inverted bottom channel.
You’ll want your undercut to be no less than 1/4″, and maybe even a bit longer (3/8″).
Be very careful when you select this, because if you have a regular door with a flat bottom on it, this door shoe will not fit properly.
Check the bottom of your door before ordering.
The drip cap is a great feature.
It is very effective at driving water away from the door.
Water won’t be able to pool under the door bottom as effectively.
This is for exterior doors.
If you have an in-swinging door you’ll have to notch the drip cap around your stop of the frame.
Available in several finishes and lengths.
Screws included in a complimentary finish.
If you have need for a custom length by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicating in the comment field what size you’d like for us to cut the material back to.
The reason for that is if you had to cut this 30″ piece down to 24″, you’d eliminate that slotted hole and be forced to drill another one.
It’s tough to drill a slotted hole especially if you’ve not used a center punch.
Also slotted holes are nice to help give you some vertical adjustment once on the door (helps compensate for an uneven sill or a door not hung plum).
